MECH GAME
This game is a project for school called: Industry Project. For the first group project, I am working in a group of 6 and our stakeholder is Enversed. Our job is to make and test a VR game where the player is inside a mech suit, focusing on motion sickness and the overall immersion of being inside a mech suit.
My contribution to this project is to design and realise the mech models by sketching and modeling and putting the models in Unity.
CONTEXT
Enversed is a company that offers a lot of different VR games and experiences in one location. It is based in Eindhoven, close to the Fontys TQ building. Enversed asked us to make a VR experience where the player controls a mech suit. We had the complete freedom to come up with anything, because it was completely new. The goal is to let the player feel that he is in control of the mech and that he feels powerful without getting motion sickness. We have to analyze, design, realise and test different mechs to eventually come with a conclusion of which mech type is best to use.
SKETCHES
SKETCH EXO SKELETON
This mech suit is actually more of an exo-skeleton. The movement is done by the movement of the person and it is light and fast.
SKETCH MECH (TOP VIEW)
This mech suit is bigger than the first one and it has an open cockpit, but it can also be closed. The cockpit is located on the top where normally a head should be, but now the persons head is there. As you can see, there are different attachments for mining, battling and driving movement. There was also an idea to let the attachments slide in and out of the wrist. This suit is heavy, bulky and has a view from the top. But it can drive AND walk.
SKETCH MECH (BODY SUIT)
This mech suit is about the same as the second one, but the cockpit is closed and the view is from the body height of the mech. The attachments of the second suit can be mixed with this suit.
MODEL RESULTS
MECH (TOP VIEW)
This is the result of the mech model with the top-view. The player can look up and around, but not down.
MECH (BODY VIEW)
This is the result of the mech model with the body view. The player can look forward, up and down.

These are sketches for the arms. The mech has to be able to mine and shoot. So I made a few modules for mining and shooting.
