VIRTUAL GAMING HUB

This game is a project for school called: Industry Project. In this Industry Project did a project for the Lectorate of FHICT in a group of 6. For this project we have to make a virtual room in VR Chat where students, teachers and alumni from the specialization Game Development and Technology can come together to have fun in VR (or pc) by playing games or just hanging out in one of the many rooms.

For this project, I focussed more on making the gaming rooms for card games in Blender, because I was working on a Macbook and it does not support VR Chat.

CONTEXT

The stakeholder's idea of a virtual room was to make a world where people can come together and play some games in VR (or pc). Right now there is a Discord where everyone of the GDT students, teachers and alumni are together, but not much is happening in there. So to get some more engagement in this group they thought it would be fun to come together in VR Chat to get to know each other better in a playful way.

We only had a few weeks time to do this projects. So to use our time making the games, we have used assets from a polygon pack.

Assets that were not available in this pack, I have made myself. I will point out which I have made.

SKETCHES

This is the ground plan of a card game room that is sort of a garden that you sometimes see on top of a building.

This is the ground plan of a card game room that is a lounge area with elevation and a lot of tables to play card games on.

MODELS

EYE CATCHER

In the hub, the player walks around. To get the attention of the player, I wanted to make an eye catcher that the player sees from outside. So, I made the ace cards of every symbol.

OUTSIDE DESIGN

If the aye catcher inside was not enough to let the player know what can be played inside, I made a sign for outside.

ROOM

I also made the elevation and pillars. I placed these on a floot and I added walls and a ceiling.

RESULTS

INSIDE

This is the inside of the card game room. As you can see, I chose to make the lounge variant, because more players can play in this room and it looks aesthetically more inviting to play here.

The tables, plants, lamps and stools I used from the asset pack.

OUTSIDE

This is the outside of the card game room. To give a modern vibe, I added the pillars from inside and I kept everything
